5) General
a) The winning Captain may host the following year’s event subject to Points f) & g) below .
b) Invitations to the competition, and/or the Dinner (see Point d) below), should be sent out at least 6/8 weeks before the event.
c) The event is open to all Captains of N&DGL Clubs in 2006 regardless of whether those Clubs are participating in the course courtesy initiative, which is a separate issue.
d) Captains not able or willing to play in the competition should nevertheless, and in the true spirit of the Society, be encouraged to attend the Dinner afterwards.
e) Captains’ contact details are available from the this site. Captains are requested to contact the the Secretary if their contact details have changed.
f) The host Captain will endeavour to obtain course courtesy for the event. This cannot be assumed and, if courtesy is not available, there will be two choices:
- Hold the event at the winning Captain’s course and pay green fees
- Ask other Captains if course courtesy is available at their Club
g) To ensure a fair rotation, hosting of the following year’s event will be offered to all other Captains.
h) Invitations each year will also include Ian McIntosh, Captain at the City of Newcastle in 2007, who supported Peter Koefod during his year of office.
i) The host Captain can invite guests who can enter the sweep but cannot win the Harry Cone Shield. Suggested guests include the 2005 Captain, 2006 Vice Captain & current year Captain & Vice Captain of the host Captain’s club. The idea is to help others interested in setting up their own Captains’ Society.

1) To act as a central point of contact for all Captains.
2) To support each year’s host Captain as required.
3) To help organise any other activities the Society may hold such as an annual Away Day.
4) To manage any monies as necessary in relation to other events, activities, charitable donations or Society products such as jumpers, ties and awards.
5) All 17 Captains should ensure that their address, phone and email details are kept fully up to date by notifying the Secretary as soon as possible with any changes.
