The 2018 Event Report - by Harry Cone Thank you to those who played and to John for attending the dinner. Nine of us played golf the best number for some time and with John beginning to play again hopefully we will make it to double figures next year.
I think I speak for everyone in saying it was a very enjoyable day. The Course was in good condition the hospitality and meal excellent .Additionally we were blessed with a fine day.
Terry Irving was our worthy winner with 35 pts, Bill Rose second with 32 pts and Richard Hannam 3rd with 31 pts.
We enjoyed a special moment in that a member of Blyth Golf Club had been aware of our visit in memory of Jeff Martin and had arranged for his widow Eileen, to make the presentation of our trophy. We really did appreciate that lovely gesture
I will be thanking Blyth Golf Club on the Society's behalf for such a good day.
We toasted the memory of Jeff Martin , Peter May and absent friends. We hope that we may see the latter next year.
The 2017 Event Report - by Harry Cone
Hello Gentlemen
Seven stalwarts fought out the competition last Friday at Morpeth Golf Club with Tony Hunter being the worthy winner and 2017 Champion with 38 points followed by Derek Roberts with 32 points. Our congratulations to Tony. The rest of the players followed with an array of scores below those but all with worthy achievements.. Again the format of full handicaps worked very well.
Ian McIntosh did not play but ably chauffeured Bill Rose around the Course in a buggy, thanks for coming for the day Ian. We had the pleasure of John Murray’s company for dinner, thanks to John for attending it was good to see him.
Those who played were very complimentary about the Course condition and the evening meal. Our thanks has been conveyed to the Green Staff and Caterers and our appreciation of Course courtesy to the Club,.
We drank a toast to absent friends and to the memory of Jeff Martin and Peter May.
I would like to thank all of those who attended for what was a thoroughly enjoyable day. It was a pleasure to see you all again. Even the weather was kind to us in that it stayed dry.
